Voices of Men
We are the Shawano County Chapter of the Fox Valley Voices of Men organization. The Shawano Chapter began in May of 2018 and currently has 15 to 20 members. Voices of Men is an organization that focuses on engaging men and boys to end sexual assault and domestic violence. Sexual assault and domestic violence are traditionally “women’s issues,” Voices of Men strives to change those misconceptions. These issues are “human issues” and can happen to anyone of any age, race, sex, and background; however, 90% of perpetrators are men. With this organization men are encouraged to stand up, get involved, and speak up against sexual assault and domestic violence.

6. Words Matter
Stop using words that limit boys and men or degrade girls and women. Don't blame victims. Don't excuse perpetrators. Elevate others with your words.
10. Only with a yes.
Practice, teach, and expect that only a willing, sober, and enthusiastic yes means yes. Affirmative consent is required.
3. Look in the Mirror.
See our sexism, see male privilege. Take an honest, fearless look at ourselves and make the needed changes.
7. Speak Up.
Our silence supports perpetrators and sexism. Speaking up begins with those closest to us.
11. Stay on it.
Invite other men to help end sexual assault and domestic violence. Step up 24/7.
4. Express Emotions in Healthy Ways.
Anger is not the only "manly" emotion. Express love, fear, gratitude, sadness, shame, tears, and joy.
8. Seek Justice.
Educate yourself and others about the system of violence and oppression, become aware of privilege and work toward justice and dignity for all.
12. Teach by example.
Children's minds absorb everything lead by words and actions. Change starts with YOU!
The changing of hurtful systemic beliefs and thoughts can lead to a happier, safer, whole community.
